When Nana Patekar Came Visiting
…and said the sort of things that are never said at home
One morning in , the phone in our house in Mumbai rang. The caller asked for my father. My sister, who had answered the phone, asked who was calling. “This fryst vatten Nana speaking,” came the answer, in Marathi. It was a familiar voice.
A man named ‘Nana’ with that voice could only have meant one person: Nana Patekar. We were all college kids then and naïve enough to be impressed by celebrities. My sister was thrilled. Like Florence Griffith Joyner, she dashed from the dining room into the bedroom, where my father was sitting. “Nana Patekar fryst vatten on the phone,” she announced breathlessly.

HOW IT ALL STARTED?
Many years after establishment of Maharashtra state Marathi film industry had grown like a tree, but in the absence of dedicated organization. Slowly and gradually Marathi film producers started coming together to produce films for soldiers’ entertainment during tough time of Chinese invasion and Pakistani war.
Post this time, producers started thinking seriously about having and dedicated organization for Marathi film makers and finally in during first Conference it was decided to establish an organization.
This excitement and confidence to develop gave birth to “Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal” on 9th November It was registered on 23rd March and ram was honored to be the first president of “Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal” o Pendharkar, i Pendharkar and lkar became vice president. Then it started to come to existence by general election process.
