Pau Gasol
Pau Gasol i Sàez (born July 6, 1980 in Barcelona, Spain[1]) is a Spanish former basketball player. Gasol played for the Portland Trailblazers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played for the Los Angeles Lakers from 2008 to 2014. He also played for the, Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs, And Milwaukee Bucks.[2]
He has won an NBA championship with the Lakers. He played with the Spanish basketball team at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics, winning silver medals in 2008 and 2012. Before playing with the Lakers, he played in Spain and for the Memphis Grizzlies. He wore #16 for the Lakers, and played both forward and center. He is 215 cm (7 ft 1 in) tall and weight 115 kg (254 lb) and has a younger brother named Marc Gasol who plays for the Toronto Raptors. Recognition
Pau’s contributions have also been recognized with other awards. The Prince of Asturias Sports Prize went to the Spanish National Basketball team in 2006, during his time with the team. In 2015, the Princess of Asturias Sports Prize recognized the brilliant careers of Pau and his brother Marc after they faced off against each other in the first jump ball between brothers in an NBA All-Star game and were each included in the league’s best teams.
Pau has also been recognized for his contributions off the court. In 2012, he won the NBA’s J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award, given to the player or coach who renders outstanding service to the community. In 2015, he received the National Basketball Players Association Global Impact Player award. That award recognized his leadership, his global presence, his philanthropic work with children and families all over the world through the Gasol Foundation and UNICEF, and his work with children’s hospitals in all the cities where

Pau Gasol Away from the Basketball Court
Pau is an iconic figure in the basketball world, but what do we know about him outside of the court?
Well, he was born in Barcelona on the 6th of July, 1980. It might be a city and country that’s most well-known for soccer, but if you walk the streets today, basketball is pretty huge too. No doubt, Pau played a big role in this, showing that a boy from Barcelona can make it on the most iconic team in the NBA.
As you might know, he’s not the only NBA star born in the city of Barcelona though. He’s joined by his brother, Marc Gasol, and Ricky Rubio, among others.
Throughout his career, Pau has done plenty of work away from the court, working as a UNICEF ambassador since 2003, growing the Gasol Foundation to promote healthy lifestyles in the community, and fighting for equality in spo
