    I am not certain if anyone has written a biography on the life of immediate past Governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, but in a world where the internet never forgets and will stay generations to generations, may history not be unkind to us that we lived and nothing tangible about him can be found. Such stories are not meant for the classroom, but for children that will be born when we are no more, and need materials on how Delta State was unfortunate to have a certified treasury looter and chronic womanizer as her number one citizen. Sadly enough, these will be tales of disasters, testimony of woes and in-depth investigations of unending scandal and notoriety of power(s) in high places. May history not judge us wrong

    One of the eventful times in my career was when I had the privilege of serving as the Delta State Commissioner for Information when Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan was governor of the state. Joining his cabinet at the onset of his second term in 2011, I worked closely with the man I came to admire and draw inspiration from.  When he became governor in 2007 at a time Nigeria was seen to have enjoyed a level of economic boom, he was not carried away by the seeming cash flow. He knew that it would not last forever. Like he espoused at the time, things changed sooner than later. The idea of planning for the day that crude oil which the country had always depended on to power its growth was not lost on him. He incorporated it as a State creed. “Delta Beyond Oil” became the state slogan that defined his administration. As instructive as the vision, no other government,  state or federal, shared in the vision. But h

    Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan (born 22 October 1954) is a retired Nigerian politician and doctor who served as Governor of Delta State from 2007 to 2015.[1] He assumed office via an inconclusive election on 29 May 2007 and was a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He was reelected in 2011.

    A medical doctor by profession, prior to becoming governor, he was the Commissioner for Health, Delta State and the Secretary to the State Government.[2]

    Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan was born on 22 October 1954 in Warri North Local Government Area in Delta State of Itsekiri origin. He attended Federal Government College, Warri (1968–1974), and the University of Benin (1975–1980) earning a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) degree, and a Diploma in Anaesthesia. He is married, with two children.[2]

    Emmanuel Uduaghan began work in 1983 at the Delta Steel Company, as a medical officer. From 1989
