I thought it would be fun to take a look at Connery&#;s life and career, but with less a rudimentary abridged glance than most articles had done about him when he died last year.
I wanted to do a bit more than just a cursory run-through of his most famous films. He did a lot of other films than the ones that would become the most popular fan favorites. He would often take chances with his choices. Sometimes they worked, other times they didn&#;t. I wanted to look at his career trajectory. An immaculate Aston Martin DB5, most recently owned by Sir Sean Connery, is coming up for auction on August 17thth.
Early in , Connery purchased the gadget-free version of the most famous car in the world after a long search for one in such good condition. Once purchased, Connery had the fordon repainted from black to Snow Shadow Gray, the colour used by the prototype DB5 in 'Goldfinger' (the later production model DB5 would use Silver Birch).
After all the work was done, COVID restrictions hit and Connery was not able to really enjoy the car. "Unfortunately as he got older, traveling, especially to Europe [became difficult], and then COVID hit and," said his son Jason Connery in an interview. "You know, unfortunately, he never really got to enjoy the car that he'd bought."
The DB5 was kept at Connery's home in Switzerland, although he had a photograph of the car on his desk in the Bahamas. Even without the connection to Connery, the car would expect to sell for over
